PDF Markup Pro ("PDF Markup Pro," "the App," "we," or "our") is a PDF reading, annotation, organization, and export application for iPhone and iPad. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how PDF Markup Pro handles your information.
The short version: We do not collect your personal information, document content, annotations, or usage activity. Your files and work remain on your device unless you choose to open, save, or share them through an Apple or third-party service. Optional voice comments use Apple's Speech Recognition service.
PDF Markup Pro does not collect data from the App. Specifically:
PDFs and photos you import, along with annotations, comments, notebooks, thumbnails, recognized text, installed fonts, and preferences, are stored locally within the App's storage on your device. Text recognition for scanned PDFs and imported images uses Apple's Vision framework and is performed on-device.
You control the documents and photos you select through Apple's Files and Photos interfaces. If you choose content stored with iCloud Drive or another file provider, that provider handles the transfer under its own privacy practices. PDF Markup Pro does not operate a server that receives your documents.
The optional voice-comments feature requests access to your microphone and Apple's Speech Recognition service only when you choose to dictate a comment. Microphone audio is used to produce editable text and is not saved by PDF Markup Pro as an audio recording.
Speech recognition is performed on-device when supported by your device and language. In other circumstances, Apple may process speech-recognition audio and related data according to Apple's privacy practices. We do not receive or retain your microphone audio or speech-recognition data. You can deny or revoke microphone and speech-recognition access at any time in iOS Settings.
When a comment contains a web link, PDF Markup Pro may use Apple's Link Presentation framework to retrieve a title, icon, or preview image for that link. This request can disclose standard network information, such as your IP address, to the linked website and its service providers. Preview information may be cached locally on your device. We do not receive this information.
PDF Markup Pro can create editable PDFs, flattened PDFs, review copies, and notes summaries. These files are generated locally and leave the App only when you explicitly save, export, or share them through the iOS share sheet, Files, AirDrop, email, or another app or service you select. The recipient or selected service handles shared content according to its own privacy practices.
Your documents and related App data remain on your device until you delete them or remove the App, subject to any device backups or copies you have saved elsewhere. You can delete documents from within PDF Markup Pro. Files you previously exported or shared must be deleted from their saved locations separately.
PDF Markup Pro does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking software. The App uses Apple system frameworks and user-selected apps or file providers for features such as document access, photo selection, speech recognition, link previews, and sharing. Those services are governed by their respective privacy policies.
PDF Markup Pro relies on standard iOS app sandboxing and device security protections to protect locally stored data. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your device, backups, and any files you export or share.
PDF Markup Pro is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
You use PDF Markup Pro at your own risk and are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups and reviewing files before sharing or relying on them.
PDF Markup Pro is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users through the App.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of PDF Markup Pro after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
